regarded as the Costa del Sol's jewel in the crown. Marbella has a
permanent population of 100,000 but this figure increases dramatically during
the summer months when 1000`s of holiday home owners arrive. Marbella can be a
great place to have your holiday home with Malaga airport being only half an
hours drive away with quick and frequent flights to most european destinations.
It is also easy to reach other places, like Algeciras, by bus. The area is
also served by the A7 autovia.
Just off Marbella's promenade the paseo maritimo there is the large beach with over 20 km of clean, well maintained beaches, the finest beaches on the whole of the Costa del Sol with lovely golden sand, lovely chiringuitos and sun beds every few meters and lots of activities where you can walk and look at all the beautiful Marbella villas or Marbella apartments along the beach.
Marbella is well set up with tourist information offices for the foreign visitor. As you enter from the arches at the East End of Marbella and from the direction of San Pedro there are two offices. Both of these are good places for residents and visitors to stop and pick up brochures or any of the many excellent publications that Marbella has to offer.

The park features a magnificent large central fountain, decorated in traditional Andalucian tiles.
Parque de la Constitucion Just a little way up from the beach near the centre of the town, a true oasis of calm in this busy modern city. It is a great plance to visit, with beautiful trees and flowers, a children's park, an astronomic observatory, a cafeteria and a 600 capacity open-air auditorium which hosts opera, theatre productions, concerts and other cultural events.
The town started to take its present shape after the Spanish Civil War 1936-39. But it was not until the mid 1940's that tourists started to come here in large numbers, after entrepreneurs initiated the construction of hotels and apartment complexes. Then the rich and famous flocked to the resort and praised Marbella by word of mouth all over the world, in the space of just 50 years, what was once a little fishing and farming village has been transformed into an international tourist hot-spot, thanks mainly to its magnificent climate and golf courses.
